“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10).
“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. . . For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour. . .Fear not: for I am with thee. . . (Isaiah 43:2-5).”
Whenever I sing or hear this hymn I will ALWAYS think of you! Recently when I was playing the piano for Relief Society this was to be the closing song. There was a little bit of extra time, so I whispered to the chorister--"Let's sing ALL the verses," which we did. One of the great lessons you taught your missionaries and made it part of our lives through the musical repetition. Thanks--love you.
ReplyDeleteI was just released at the chorister for Sacrament meeting and the Ward music director chose the songs. Every time she chose How Firm A Foundation, we sang all 7 verses in honor of you!! After awhile, most of the members, and Bishopric knew there would be 7 verses, and I had people stand to sing it. Love the memories!! Love Ya, Sister Alleman
ReplyDeleteI feel cheated when we don't sing all the verses in church. They are beautiful words. Always think of you when it is sung. Thanks for all you both did in the mission. Sister Summers (with the correct spelling)
